▲ How can you tell when a job is well done?
It depends on the kind of job - for flatwork you are looking for a level finish, so level that it shines like a mirror after a rainstorm. For colored concrete you want an overall consistency of tone. Some variation is normal, of course, but when you look at it from a distance that variation should fade from view. Then there are the basics - scoring should be of a consistent width and depth, lines should be straight and the brooming should be tight and even.
▲ How do I check the craftsmanship of someone BEFORE I hire them?
Ask them for references and place you can see their work. The good thing about this kind of work is that most of it is outside - you can usually get a list of people to call and places to see.
We send our customers over to the Metropolitan Theater or a few recent projects in Austin. We even give them an idea of what to look for. You have to live with the results of this work for a long time - hopefully for the life of your home or business. It has to be done right the first time.
▲ Cracks - when should I worry?
Concrete is a natural substance and does crack over time. Small Surface cracks are to be expected. If there is a crack thick enough for you to drop in a nickel, you may have a structural crack that requires repair.
▲ Do you do stain?
YES!
▲ Do you do countertops?
YES!
▲ I heard nightmares about people not showing up, missing appointments and jobs left undone...
We often get called in on job like these to finish what others couldn't. In this business often you'll find very small companies trying to do projects that quickly outstrip their ability. Or they realize they have underbid the job and don't finish it (which is why you need to be careful with the 'low bid' approach). We've been in business for over 20 years and your job will be done ON TIME, ON BUDGET, and DONE RIGHT - the first time.
