Little known movies to rent from Netflix and books to check out;

"Empire of the Summer Moon" by S.C. Gwynne is a well researched historical account of the forty year battle between the Comanches and the settlers for control of the West. It's "unsettling" and confronts the notion of "noble savage" vs "intolerant white people" as stereotypes. Worth your time

"Departures" is a Japanese film about a man who becomes an "encoffiner", one who prepares the dead for burial....no, not an "undertaker".....and the difference is the deeply moving current in this incredibly beautiful story. Do NOT pass this one by.....and discover how much we are missing in the way in which we (refuse to) handle death. If only...................

"American Violet", want a picture of the American "justice system" and why we lead all nations in putting people in jail (90% of whom are there as a result of a "plea bargain")? This is the movie to see.......and be both informed and upset........ok, VERY upset!

NOTE! Attempts for White Water Adventure 2011. OK, here's the news on this: a 5 day trip through Cataract Canyon (that's the Colorado/Green through Canyonlands)....this place is seldom visited and has marvelous ruins and magical history) cost for the trip itself is about $1500. There are "add ons", motel, food on the road, etc (they feed us on the river. This is a "mixed trip", meaning both motor and paddle and we need a group of no less than 10 to do it. August, September, or early October is what were looking at. See our "White Water" page to read about the journeys we've done in the past and will continue to do with you.

NOTE #2: We are going give up on the Grand Canyon trip just 'cause we've had enough anxiety producing "adventures" for this life time and GC IS a tough journey. Very! I urge you to plan to do this trip at least once in your life. As for us, we're going to focus on the more easy going Green River.

This trip is both ceremonial and a personal growth undertaking. We will be doing workshops and ceremony on the river so it's not just sight seeing.

And NOTE #3; don't let the "motor" part put you off, it's not all motor all the time and it's not a speed boat trip. We have two interested at this point.

Lots of people want to do this but so far we don't have enough to really get it going. If you are interested, call and we'll start connecting people up so we can actually form a group to make it happen, or, maybe you can do all the "connecting up". Let us know. c
